4.0 out of 5 stars Effective for about 10 Degrees of added Warmth, April 13, 2011

The Sea to Summit Reactor Thermolite Sleeping Bag Liner is a good addition to add to your sleeping bag for extra warmth on a cold night. I use this liner in conjunction with my Hydrogen +30 Down Sleeping Bag by Marmot. It is advertised to add 15 degrees of warmth but I think that is not completely accurate. I estimate that you should get an extra 10 degrees of warmth. Whenever a product advertises a claim of added warmth I recommend being conservative with that number and prepare for the worst case.

The Thermolite sleeping bag liner is compact, very lightweight and comes with its own stuff sack. Thermolite is a hollow-core fiber that provides excellent warmth for its weight. It has breathable nylon fibers and the material is very thin yet it does provide added warmth. Although the material is thin it does appear to be durable and I have not had any problems with it ripping, tearing or coming apart. The material is soft, comfortable and not restrictive. It can be a bit challenging getting the liner situated inside your sleeping bag depending on the style of your bag.

Overall, I recommend using the Sea to Summit Reactor Thermolite Sleeping Bag Liner as it is extremely light and compact while providing a solid 10 degrees of additional warmth.

I purchased this for my son to use in his mummy bag. he used it this past weekend when it got cold while camping and he said that it kept him warm. It is very light weight. The only down side is that there isn’t any way to attach it to the inside of your bag to keep it from twisting and knotting up on you while you sleep.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a great product, August 10, 2011

I have been very satisfied with this liner; it is very soft, comfortable and adds to temperature rating of sleeping bag. At first I thought that it might be weird sleeping in a liner inside of a sleeping bag and that it might get twisted and uncomfortable, but that hasn’t been the case at all and it’s been great. Took this to hike Mt. Whitney in July and overnight it got below freezing with high winds sleeping in this liner and my +25F sleeping bag (this is a survival rating not comfort rating) I was warm all night even with a fully unzipped sleeping bag. When I used the same sleeping bag and tent without this liner in high winds and cold overnight temps (high 30s) in New Mexico I was a little bit cold and had to put on some more clothes. I can’t really speak to whether it adds 15F rating since that is really hard to judge a survival rating not comfort rating. I think this is a great addition to my camping gear and I plan on using when it is hot on camping trips without a sleeping bag. In case you are curious for planning what gear to buy, the liner with the stuff sack weigh 9.8 oz (using a baking scale accurate to 0.05oz).
